MENACE is a turn-based tactical RPG set in the isolated Wayback system, where a Republic Marine Corps strike force is deployed to restore order on a lawless frontier threatened by an unknown alien menace. Players command marines, mercenaries, and criminals, deploying infantry squads, tanks, and walkers in strategic turn-based battles. Troops can be trained and equipped with a variety of weapons and upgrades to create specialized units. The game features multi-mission operations across different worlds, interactions with pirate warlords, corporations, and fractured planetary governments, and faction relationship management as players work to unite the system against a growing alien threat.
