Hatred is an isometric twin-stick shooter where players control a nihilistic antagonist who embarks on a mass killing spree through suburban and urban environments. Armed with firearms and explosives, the player must eliminate civilians and law enforcement while progressing through linear stages filled with destructible objects and hostile NPCs. The game features a monochromatic visual style with splashes of red to emphasize violence, and its story is conveyed through minimal dialogue and environmental storytelling, focusing on the protagonist's hatred for humanity. Survival depends on managing ammunition, health, and positioning amid waves of armed resistance.
