Blazing Star is a side-scrolling shoot 'em up set during the ongoing war between the planets Remuria and Mutras. Players choose from six different spacecraft, each with unique strengths, weapons, and handling characteristics. Gameplay involves rapid fire, split shots, and powerful charged attacks to defeat waves of enemies. Players can break charged shots to alter their attack type and adapt to different situations. Collecting power-ups and bonus items increases firepower and improves scoring opportunities. Destroying enemies with charged attacks yields higher scores and helps master the scoring system. The game features increasingly dangerous enemy formations and large bosses throughout the campaign, and supports local co-op for two players on the GOG release.
