Old World is a historical strategy game in which you manage your empire through several generations, creating a great legacy. This is the era of great leaders, from the revered to the feared. What will you be?
Marry for politics, raise your heirs, and manage relationships with the families of your kingdom. In a fast and furious world of kings and queens, family matters a lot.
– Each of the 7 kingdoms has four noble families that provide different benefits when they rule your cities.
– Manage family bonds with events, activities, and marriages to keep them happy and get extra benefits. Unsettle them or make them too strong and you risk incurring their wrath.

The world is full of great characters with different personalities, strengths and weaknesses. Use them to build your kingdom, defend your borders, and build connections with other leaders.
– Search and recruit renowned warriors, philosophers, builders and more. Let them train your children, lead your armies, and strengthen your rule.
– Different personality archetypes allow members of your court to perform different tasks in the same roles. Find the right combinations to take full advantage of governors, diplomats, spies, and even your spouse.
– Characters develop new personalities and traits over time, age, gain experience, and finally fall ill and die, leaving room for the next generation.
Restless tribes, barbarian marauders and remnants of previous cultures await you in the vast uncharted wilderness.
– Find artifacts and great heroes of the past in ruins scattered across the map.
– Take part in over 3000 unique events inspired by history and mythology.
– Contacts with foreign dignitaries set off chains of events, stories and courtroom drama.
– Pursue ambition and legacy related to conquest, development, faith and more.
– Historical scenarios, weekly challenge games, and a choice between randomly generated and handcrafted maps to explore. Lead Carthage to victory as Hannibal in the Punic Wars, fight barbarian hordes or compete against other players in fictional scenarios.
Why do things the way they’ve always been done? Old World offers a new take on key elements of the 4X strategy genre:
– Go beyond traditional resources. Buildings are made of wood and stone, not “industry”. The population is growing not only due to “food”.
– Orders are a resource that is used in your game world. Instead of moving each unit once per turn, each unit can be moved multiple times until it gets tired or runs out of Orders.
– Technological progress is not predetermined. Randomization helps keep tech trees fresh with each playthrough.
– Quality of life improvements such as the ability to undo erroneous commands and nested tooltips ensure you always make informed decisions.
– Play with your friends in countless multiplayer modes, from hot to asynchronous to cloudy.
– Mods open up endless possibilities for new worlds, empires and dynasties inspired by our real world as well as works of fiction.

However, this game has a very frequent update cycle. There were half a dozen more patches since then, and the last one, v71426 + Hotfix 71427, was a pretty substantial update with many new features.
