Empire of the Ants (2000)

Welcome to Empire of the Ants! The classic real-time strategy and simulation game, based on Bernard Werber’s best-seller, released on PC in 2000 by Microids, is now available on GOG!

In this game, you play as the leader of an ant colony in the Bel-O-Kan empire, the mother colony, and must complete various missions in order to defeat the most fearsome predator, the praying mantis.

You must manage two environments: the ant colony and the great outdoors. The ant colony is organized around the Queen’s chamber, warehouses, and spaces for eggs and the production of underground food such as mushrooms, aphids, and gourds. Inside the colony and in the outdoors, you can zoom in and out, rotate the camera angle, and use the mini map to view exploitable resource areas.

Only armed units are controllable, while workers follow only priorities set by the player such as food and maintenance of chambers. Establishing priorities will allow you to build the ant colony adapted to your strategy and will lead you to survive your opponents and through each season, including winter hibernation.
