Yakuza Kiwami is a remake of the original Yakuza game, rebuilt with updated visuals and gameplay for modern systems. Players control Kazuma Kiryu, a former yakuza member released from prison after taking the blame for a crime he did not commit. Set in the fictional district of Kamurocho, the game blends intense melee combat with a deep narrative exploring loyalty, betrayal, and redemption within the Japanese underworld. Beyond the main story, players can engage in numerous side activities including arcade games, batting cages, karaoke, and managing hostess clubs, each offering unique mini-games and rewards. The remake introduces new story elements, refined combat mechanics, and the Majima Everywhere system, where the recurring antagonist Goro Majima appears unpredictably to challenge Kiryu throughout the city.
