Magician Lord is a side-scrolling fantasy action game and one of the original launch titles for the Neo Geo. Players control the magician Elta as he journeys to stop the resurrected Gal-Agiese and save the world from destruction. The game features eight distinct areas filled with monsters, platforming hazards, guardians, and powerful bosses. By collecting magical orbs hidden throughout the stages, Elta can transform into six different warrior forms, each with unique attacks and abilities. These transformations allow varied approaches to combat and survival as the stages increase in difficulty.

- Play as the magician Elta on a quest to stop Gal-Agiese and save the world.
- Fight through eight side-scrolling areas filled with enemies, hazards, guardians, and bosses.
- Collect magical transformation orbs hidden throughout the stages.
- Transform into six different forms including Dragon Warrior, Shinobi, Samurai, Waterman, Poseidon, and Raijin.
- Use the unique movement and attack abilities of each transformation to deal with different threats.
- Run, jump, climb, and fire magical projectiles while navigating fantasy environments.
