Players guide the knight Dirk through perilous dungeons, battling dragons and traps by pressing the correct directional or action button at precise moments to advance the story. Success depends on quick reflexes and memorization of on-screen prompts, with failure leading to humorous death animations. The trilogy includes Dragon's Lair, Dragon's Lair II: Time Warp, and Space Ace, each featuring hand-drawn animation by former Disney artists.
