Description of SpellForce 3 : 518 year. The so-called Mage Wars. The mage rebellion was eventually put down by the Crown's forces. This victory, however, did not bring relief: anarchy reigns in distant provinces, and throughout the country, refugees left homeless are looking for new shelter. In addition, outbreaks of a new deadly disease, called "blood fever", have been noticed. In times like these, people cling to any hope. The "Righteous Light", led by the charismatic Rondar Lekain, claims that all troubles are from magicians, and only the second coming of Aonir, the father of all gods, is able to restore Eo to its former glory. The story takes place before the events of SpellForce: The Order of Dawn.
